Robert Kiyosaki - Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial

Robert Kiyosaki - Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial
Freedom (2000)

This guide to financial freedom will reveal why some people work less,
earn more, pay less in taxes, and feel more financially secure than
others. It is simply a matter knowing which quadrant to work from and
when. If you've ever wondered why some people make it financially while
others struggle all their lives, this is the book for you. It is a book
written for people who are ready to move beyond job security and begin
to find their own world of financial freedom.

A large part of Kiyosaki's teachings focus on generating passive income
by means of investment opportunities, such as real estate and small
businesses, with the ultimate goal of being able to support oneself by
such investments alone. In tandem with this, Kiyosaki defines "assets"
as things that generate cash inflow, such as rental properties or
businesses—and "liabilities" as things that generate cash outflow, such
as house payments, cars, and so on. Such definitions are somewhat based
on the concept of negative gearing. He also argues that financial
leverage to be critically important in becoming rich.

Cashflow Quadrant is a personal finance and investing book written with
Sharon Lechter, C.P.A. as the sequel to Rich Dad, Poor Dad. In it,
Kiyosaki discusses what he calls the cashflow quadrant: a grid
consisting of the letters "E", "S", "B", and "I". The cashflow quadrant
itself is just an illustrative tool to show the difference between
Employees, Self Employed/Small Business owners, Business owners (not
directly involved in the day-to-day operation of the company), and
Investors. Kiyosaki discusses the differences between concepts and ideas
characteristic of each quadrant, particularly as they relate to passive
income and tax advantages. Again, as a self-help author, he invites
readers to consider their own ideas about money.

Kiyosaki speaks often of what he calls "The Cashflow Quadrant," a
conceptual tool that aims to describe how all the money in the world is
earned. Depicted in a diagram, this concept entails four groupings,
split with two lines (one vertical and one horizontal). In each of the
four groups there is a letter representing a way in which an individual
may earn income. The letters are as follows.

* E: Employee — Working for someone else
* S: Self-employed or Small business owner — Where a person owns his own
job and is his own boss.
* B: Business owner — Where a person owns a "system" of making money,
rather than a job to make money.
* I: Investor — Spending money in order to receive a larger payout in
return.

FireWall Howto

A firewall is a structure intended to keep a fire from spreading. Building have firewalls made of brick walls completely dividing sections of the building. In a car a firewall is the metal wall separating the engine and passenger compartments.

Internet firewalls are intended to keep the flames of Internet hell out of your private LAN. Or, to keep the members of your LAN pure and chaste by denying them access the all the evil Internet temptations. ;−)

UML Distilled

UML Distilled

Second Edition

A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modelling Language

Now widely adopted as the de facto industry standard and sanctioned by the Object Management Group, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a notation all software developers need to know and understand. However, the UML is a big language, and not all of it is equally important. The award-winning first edition of UML Distilled was widely praised for being a concise guide to the core parts of the UML and has proved extremely successful in helping developers get up and running quickly. UML Distilled, Second Edition, maintains the concise format with significantly updated coverage of use cases and activity diagrams, and expanded coverage of collaborations. It also includes a new appendix detailing the changes between UML versions.

Written for those with a basic understanding of object-oriented analysis and design, this book begins with a summary of UML's history, development, and rationale and then moves into a discussion of how the UML can be integrated into the object-oriented development process. The primary author profiles the various modeling techniques in the UML--such as use cases, class diagrams, and interaction diagrams--and describes the notation and semantics clearly and succinctly. He also outlines useful non-UML techniques such as CRC cards and patterns. These descriptions are made even more relevant with a collection of best practices based on the primary author's experience and a brief Java programming example demonstrating the implementation of a UML-based design. With this tour of the key parts of the UML, readers will be left with a firm foundation upon which to build models and develop further knowledge of the Unified Modeling Language.

Technologies for Home Networking

Technologies for Home Networking | 2008 | PDF | 3.18 MB

A broad overview of the home networking field, ranging from wireless technologies to practical applications

In the future, it is expected that private networks (e.g., home networks) will become part of the global network ecosystem, participating in sharing their own content, running IP-based services, and possibly becoming service providers themselves. This is already happening in the so-called "social networks" and peer-to-peer file sharing networks on the Internet—making this emerging topic one of the most active research areas in the wireless communications field.

This book bridges the gap between wireless networking and service research communities, which, until now, have confined their work to their respective fields. Here, a number of industry professionals and academic experts have contributed chapters on various aspects of the subject to present an overview of home networking technologies with a special emphasis on the user as the center of all activities. Coverage includes:

Networked home use cases and scenarios
Media format, media exchange, and media interoperability
Location-aware device and service discovery
Security in smart homes
Secure service discovery protocol implementation for wireless ad-hoc networks
Multimedia content protection in consumer networks
Mobile device connectivity in home networks
Unlicensed mobile access/generic access network
Wireless sensor networks in the home
Ultra-wideband and sensor networking in the home environment

With a balanced mix of practice and theory, Technologies for Home Networking focuses on the latest technologies for speedier, more reliable wireless networking and explains how to facilitate workable end-to-end solutions from a user's perspective. This book is an ideal resource for practicing engineers, designers, and managers with an interest in home networking and also serves as a valuable text for graduate stud
